Head · I

Bergamot

The first minute of morning, pressed cold.

Heart · II

Amber resin

Sun held in sap for a hundred slow years.

Base · III

Sandalwood

The warmth a room keeps after you leave it.

Facet —

What it is made of

Three materials. No noise.

Raw fragrance materials — citrus peel, resin and wood, arranged on warm stone

The raw matter

Calabrian bergamot, fossilized amber resin, Mysore-grade sandalwood. Sourced once a year, in small lots, from growers we can name.

A fine mist of fragrance catching golden light

The pour

Macerated forty days in darkness, then bottled by hand. Each decant is numbered. There is no second fragrance, and there never will be.

How to wear it

The ritual

I.

One press at the throat, where the pulse is warmest.

II.

One at the wrist — never rubbed, only worn.

III.

Then let it open on its own. It takes about an hour. So do most good things.
