Galerie Nord

The Spring Programme hangs four commissioned works in continuous generation. No edition is fixed, and no visit repeats — the pictures are being computed while you stand in front of them.

About the gallery

Galerie Nord opened in 2019 in a former type foundry off Markveien, two rooms below street level. We show work that is computed rather than printed — pieces that run, drift, and occasionally misbehave in real time.

The gallery keeps no storeroom. When a programme closes, its works stop running with it; what remains is whatever the visitors carried out in memory.

Each season we ask four artists for a system rather than a picture. The system is hung, lit, and left to run for fourteen weeks. On the final day we publish its source — the gallery's only permanent collection is a repository.
