The Challenge

Will the bouquet look like the photo?

Rainbow Floral is a real neighbourhood florist on Bloor Street West — cozy, friendly, hand-tied. Online, that warmth was up against faceless flower-delivery marketplaces.

Rainbow Floral is a genuine Toronto shop at 627 Bloor St W — the kind of place where someone behind the counter knows the difference between a sympathy arrangement and a first-date bouquet. The flowers are personal. The competition online is anything but: a handful of national delivery marketplaces that show a glossy stock photo and ship something else entirely.

That gap is the whole problem with buying flowers online. "Will the bouquet actually look like the picture?" is the quiet fear behind every abandoned cart — and once a customer has been burned by a wilted, nothing-like-the-photo delivery, they stop trusting the category, not just the store.

So Rainbow needed a storefront that did two things at once: feel as fresh and personal as the shop itself, and convert the thing it's genuinely best at — same-day delivery across Toronto, with the exact bouquet you saw. Not a catalog. A promise it could keep.

The Approach

We built the storefront around four moves.

i.

What you see is what you get.

The single biggest fear in online flowers is "will it look like the photo?" So the storefront is built on daily-updated, photo-accurate collections — the bouquet on screen is the bouquet the shop is actually making that day. "What You See Is What You Get" isn't a slogan here, it's the product. That one decision kills the category's #1 trust problem before the customer ever reaches checkout.

ii.

Same-day delivery, made obvious.

Rainbow's real edge is speed — same-day delivery across Toronto, order by 3:30PM — but that only converts if the customer sees it before they hesitate. So the cutoff and the delivery promise are surfaced up front, in a standing banner, not buried three pages into a policy section. The thing that wins the sale is the first thing you read.

iii.

Shop by the moment, not the SKU.

Nobody buys flowers for the flowers — they buy them for a moment. So the entry points are emotional, not catalog: Celebration, Sympathy, and Any Occasion. A customer arriving sad and a customer arriving happy each find the right shelf in one tap, in the language they're already thinking in — not a grid sorted by stem count.

iv.

Room to grow beyond the bouquet.

A florist's highest-value work isn't a single bouquet — it's weddings, events and floral workshops. The storefront gives each its own path so the shop can grow into bigger bookings without cluttering the everyday buy. All of it on a fast, mobile-first custom Shopify theme — Liquid sections and blocks, so Rainbow can re-merchandise collections themselves, daily, without a developer.
